Background
Richmond Catholic Theatre was founded in June 2015 by husband and wife team Richard and Christine Arena.  The idea was founded in the WWII era Rhapsodic Theatre of Poland, which was a clandestine company who's goal was to uplift the Polish people through the production of epic, nationalist poetry.  These productions were rooted in and emphasized the Catholic faith.  Richmond Catholic Theatre seeks to take this idea and run with it here in Richmond, VA. Beginning with a play written by St Pope John Paul II, the co-founder of the Rhapsodic Theatre, called The Jeweler's Shop, Richmond Catholic Theatre has engaged the public in a dialogue about faith. Supported by enthusiastic volunteers, Richmond Catholic Theatre has traveled to various churches throughout the Richmond Metro and Tidewater area, bringing The Jeweler's Shop. This year, Richmond Catholic Theatre brought on a resident playwright and produced her work, Peter and the Angel, as part of the Acts of Faith Festival (the second year in a row participating in the festival).
