Impact
Excel to Excellence has developed a signature program called TEAM EXCEL that promotes education and servant leadership skills to middle and high school students. Over the past year, the organization has accomplished the following major goals.
  1. Demonstrated a positive increase in the grade point average for students in the program.
  2. Expanded from 90 students served, to impact 150 students.
  3. Logged over 100 hours of community service hours and completed three service learning projects in the community.

For the current year, Excel to Excellence and TEAM EXCEL plan to accomplish the following:
  1. Expand to add two additional schools and 60 additional students.
  2. Meet the grade point average objectives for the overall TEAM EXCEL group of students.
  3. Meet the new community service objectives for each students that include a minimum of 8 hours per year for middle school students and 10 hours for high school students.
Needs
In order to continue to impact students, Excel to Excellence has the following needs.

TEAM EXCEL

Volunteers
  1. Volunteer TEAM LEADERS - Team Leaders are adult volunteers that are assigned to students teams in the TEAM EXCEL program. Each team consists of approximately 10 students and 5 adult team leaders. They meet for one hour per week and facilitate the weekly sessions. The group sessions include activities around life skills, career exploration and academic preparation.
  2. Guest Speakers - The TEAM EXCEL program seeks guest speakers that will talk with students about their careers and different topics that relate to the life-skills and other topics such as financial literacy, leadership, etc.

Contributions
  1. Individuals and companies are encouraged to donate to Excel to Excellence to support its TEAM EXCEL program. The program is growing rapidly and has expanded from 30 to 150 students in a two year period. To sustain this growth, the organization is widening its donor base.
  2. Corporate Sponsors - Excel to Excellence has a signature fundraising event called the Celebrity Waiter Experience. The event features Michael Robinson and his NFL friends that serve guests a fabulous meal. This year's event will take place at Quirk Hotel. Additional information is located on the organization's website.
Background

Michael Robinson founded Excel to Excellence, Inc. in 2010 to address his concern for children who are being left behind in our society. Robinson, born in Richmond, Virginia, was drafted in the 4th round (100th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2006 NFL Draft. He played quarterback and wide receiver at Penn State University and led the team to a Big Ten Conference title and an Orange Bowl Championship title in 2005. He also finished 5th in the Heisman voting that year. In February of 2014, Mr. Robinson was the starting fullback for the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. He currently works as a NFL Media Broadcaster and Big Ten Network Analyst.

To achieve the long-term vision for Excel to Excellence, there will be several phases and programming elements that will be implemented. The initial activity for the organization was the annual Michael Robinson Youth Football Camp and Community Day. Founded in 2010, the football camp provides a rare opportunity for children to interact and receive coaching from professional athletes and area coaches. The camp is free and open to boys and girls between the ages of 10-18.

The second phase for Excel to Excellence includes hands-on acadamic programs that engage students throughout the school year. The first academic program, TEAM EXCEL, utilizes a fun and exciting incentive program to motivate students to succeed in the areas of academics and attendance. The ultimate goal of TEAM EXCEL is to increase student’s grade point average, improve attendance, decrease behavioral issues and give students a greater understanding of community service.
