Excel to Excellence develops innovative programs and strong partnerships that provide the resources, life experiences and environment to mold youth into healthy, educated leaders of tomorrow.
Michael Robinson founded Excel to Excellence, Inc. in 2010 to address his concern for children who are being left behind in our society. Robinson, born in Richmond, Virginia, was drafted in the 4th round (100th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2006 NFL Draft. He played quarterback and wide receiver at Penn State University and led the team to a Big Ten Conference title and an Orange Bowl Championship title in 2005. He also finished 5th in the Heisman voting that year. In February of 2014, Mr. Robinson was the starting fullback for the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. He currently works as a NFL Media Broadcaster and Big Ten Network Analyst.
To achieve the long-term vision for Excel to Excellence, there will be several phases and programming elements that will be implemented. The initial activity for the organization was the annual Michael Robinson Youth Football Camp and Community Day. Founded in 2010, the football camp provides a rare opportunity for children to interact and receive coaching from professional athletes and area coaches. The camp is free and open to boys and girls between the ages of 10-18.
The second phase for Excel to Excellence includes hands-on acadamic programs that engage students throughout the school year. The first academic program, TEAM EXCEL, utilizes a fun and exciting incentive program to motivate students to succeed in the areas of academics and attendance. The ultimate goal of TEAM EXCEL is to increase student’s grade point average, improve attendance, decrease behavioral issues and give students a greater understanding of community service.
