Mission Belltower Pictures is a non-profit independent film production company founded and located in Richmond Virginia. Our mission is to entertain and to inspire by telling stories that make a difference.
Impact

Belltower Pictures reached a major milestone in 2016 with the release of our first feature film, Shooting The Prodigal. We're currently in development of our next projects as we continue helping to build the film industry in Virginia, and nurturing the next generation of filmmakers.

Belltower Pictures has proven itself a key player in the Virginia film industry: from conception, pre-production, production, editing, and marketing - all of the content for Shooting the Prodigal was created and completed in Virginia, which allowed us to produce and keep film industry jobs in the Commonwealth.

Belltower Pictures provided young filmmakers the opportunity to grow by building a strong foundation for them to succeed by providing hands-on training through our robust and application based internship program.

Needs
We are working to expand our Board of Directors to reflect more diversity.

Even though it will generate revenue, we are in need of $50,000 to support the marketing and distribution of our film, Shooting the Prodigal.
Background

David Powers began working on The Prodigal Project in early 2010 and he founded Belltower Pictures as a way to tell this story. We are a unique independent non-profit film maker committed to telling stories that make a difference.

With the help of generous foundations and local philanthropists, the seed money needed to produce the film was raised and the film was green lighted by the Board in December 2014.

During this time, the Board began putting the needed non-profit infrastructure in place. That work continues with an expanded board of directors, the completion of an internal case statement, the formation of board committees, and the completion of our first full audit.

CEO Statement

Belltower’s plans for 2016 are bold and ambitious. Our full attention is focused on getting Shooting The Prodigal out to audiences. We also anticipate the conceptual development work for our next project to be completed in 2016.

Belltower is committed to bringing diverse groups together, working side by side and building relationships that strengthen our community.

Belltower is also committed to serving as an incubator for the next generation of filmmakers. We implemented a robust application based intern program that attracted 34 applicants to 12 slots.
