Mission

Through prayer ministry and teaching, FHI helps people hear God’s voice so they can pursue the journey to a free and full life.

Impact

In 2015:

  • Mentored and/or did prayer ministry for 45 individuals - 25 of whom were first-time clients - helping to set the captives free from the thought patterns, addictions and other behaviors and instead showing them what it means to live the abundant life.
  • Taught and facilitated 14 classes and seminars in Richmond, Northern Virginia and Baltimore.
  • Raised $2,500 for our first video project at the end of 2015.

In 2017, we are planning initiatives in the following areas:
  • Creating an internship program
  • Building a marketing and development strategy
  • Forming partnerships with local churches
  • We also plan to compile articles and stories on prayer ministry from into a book for laypersons.
Needs

Our most pressing need is for personnel. We are seeking interns to assist with some of our programs and new initiatives. Also, the director has been working without remuneration since FHI’s inception. The Board of Directors would like to provide her with a housing allowance.

In addition, we need volunteers for the following tasks:

  • Accounting
  • Editing
  • Event planning
  • Graphic design
  • Interior design/decorating
  • Website management
  • Video or audio recording
  • Photography

In order to achieve our goal of adding prayer ministers and training interns, we need to rent and furnish more space to accommodate them.  Therefore, the additional annual income needed in 2017 is approximately $25,000.
Background

History of Sunodia Prayer Counseling

Sunodia Prayer Counseling, formerly known as Finding Home Institute, is a Christ-centered, non-denominational ministry that is dedicated to rebuilding people, nurturing broken and wounded spirits, and training strong disciples.

We seek to foster the spiritual, emotional and physical well-being of individuals by helping them come to the awareness—and the removal—of the issues that are blocking their growth and health. We do this by helping people come to a place of wholeness, peace and rest, where they know the truth about God and themselves.

Rev. Jessie Mejias, M.A., a well-known counselor and teacher in Virginia since 2001, is the Founder and President of Sunodia Prayer Counseling. Jessie’s passion and gifts are to bring healing to the body of Christ. Jessie has a long-standing reputation as a strong and godly woman with discernment in hearing from God through words, dreams and visions. She draws on her own experience of God’s ability to heal and restore as she walks with many through their life struggles and helps them find the way to wholeness.

Sunodia Prayer Counseling was established as a nonprofit organization in the Commonwealth of Virginia in October of 2010 and is governed by a Board of Directors and guided by a distinguished Spiritual Advisory Board. In April of 2011, the organization received its official notification of acceptance as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

Sunodia Prayer Counseling was originally established in Alexandria, Virginia, but in April of 2011 moved its headquarters to Richmond, Virginia. In October of 2016, the organization's name was officially changed from Finding Home Institute to Sunodia Prayer Counseling.

We depend largely on freewill donations to support our work. However, individuals receiving prayer ministry are encouraged to contribute a suggested minimum donation, although all are welcome regardless of financial status. Registration fees may apply for curriculum courses.

Description

Sunodia Prayer Counseling is committed to working with churches seeking healing and discipleship for their congregations and ministries seeking effective ministry training for their team members.

Our courses have three target audiences:

  • General Church Body: indicates that this course is intended to introduce all believers to principles and concepts foundational to a successful Christian life
  • Ministry Level 1: indicates that this course is intended to equip those laypersons who plan to be involved in ministry on a very limited basis to understand how to pray effectively with hurting people immediately after a church service and/or to become powerful intercessors
  • Ministry Level 2: indicates that this course is intended to equip those laypersons who feel they are called to ministry on a full- or part-time basis with the tools of inner healing and to prepare them for prayer ministry with the hurting (either one-on-one or in teams of two).

Sunodia Prayer Counseling courses don’t just provide participants with information about healing and discipleship—they equip them to experience the God who knows and loves them. Our students testify that their lives are forever changed as they learn to implement biblical principles. Wounded hearts are healed, captives are set free and generational blessings are released!
