Mission Statement The mission of Peaceful Passings is to save senior animals. For some animals, this will mean re-homing. For others, Peaceful Passings will be their home as long as they enjoy a quality of life.

Our vision is a world where no animal is euthanized due to age or medical challenge when a quality of life exists.

Peaceful Passings, Inc. will work to achieve this mission/vision by establishing:

  1. A Center to house and care for senior and hospice animals in a home-like environment. The Center will work to educate the public as to the worth and dignity of life and provide sheltering where the needs of senior animals are met as long as a quality of life remains.
  2. The Center will work to re-home lost and/or abandoned senior animals to loving homes, when such placements are appropriate.
  3. Programs include, but are not limited to, grief counseling, care for aging pets, educational materials and serving as a resource for inquiries from the general public.

Impact
Our rescue works closely with residential treatment centers and group homes to provide humane education to at-risk youth.

Peaceful Passings works to educate the public about the plight of senior animals, many of whom, are euthanized due to age in kill-shelters and are not made available for adoption.

58% of our budget is spent on veterinary care, while only 6% of our budget is spent on administrative costs. We are an all-volunteer organization; no one who is a part of Peaceful Passings receives a salary. The majority of donations go directly for the care of the animals.

Comments
Most rescues focus on adoptions. Though we also appreciate when someone is of the open heart to adopt a senior, we realize that it is best when an animal 15 years old or older stays with us, as do our hospice animals. Therefore, our adoption numbers are not as high as some rescues. If you believe in that older animals have a right to live out their lives as long as they have a quality of life, you will believe in our mission. For some, it may be a new way of thinking about senior animals, and for that matter, senior humans. All deserve a place to call home in their golden years.
