Impact
  • Through our local schools, implemented the Marine Science Legacy Program to encourage marine science education.
  • Collaborated with other nonprofit organizations in projects that will benefit the citizens of the Town and County.
  • Urbanna Oyster Festival is the largest fund raising effort of the year for many local charities, and each year provides a number of college scholarships for local high school students.
Needs
Vendors and sponsors are necessary for sustaining the festival.  Volunteers are the lifeblood of running the festival.

Background
During the past five decades, the Urbanna Oyster Festival & Foundation has created a Festival that has become a living history and tribute to the watermen/women who first settled the area and were the economic lifeblood of the community.  Attendees are treated to waterfront demonstrations and education exhibits that help preserve the cultural and historical significance of the event.

It is also the largest fundraising effort of the year for many of the local civic organizations and businesses.  As new generations learn of their heritage, it is hoped they will become a part of future solutions and inspire others.
