Impact
  • $3,226 supported mini-grants were awarded to teachers in 2015-2016
  • $8,500 funded the Third Grade trip to Washington, D.C. in 2011-2012 and in 2012-2013. 
  • $6,000 funded the "Celebration of Excellence" awards for 33 students demonstrating academic high achievement in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
Needs
LCVEF seeks to continue funding a part-time position of "Volunteer Coordinator" for the public school system.  This position has been approved by the School Board and awaits funding of $25,080 to be supplied by LCVEF.
 
 
Background
LCVEF began service in 2007 with a three-year grant of $40,000 from the Wiley Foundation.  These funds supported the initiation of the Wilson Reading Program into the Primary Schools.  Subsequently, an additional $60,000 has been raised from various sources to support various programs in the Primary, Middle, and High Schools. As of June 30, 2016, LCVEF has given back over $350,000 to Lancaster County Public Schools, everything from technology to field trips to academic recognition.

Description Since 2015/2016 school year LCVEF has sponsored field trips emphasizing science and mathematics for all students in the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades.  The goal of these trips is to encourage interest in the sciences.  The cost of the field trips is approximately $5,000 per year.
