Launched in 2010, GiveRichmond is an online searchable database that provides programmatic, financial, governance and management information about nearly 600 local nonprofits. You will find this information organized in the form of a nonprofit “portrait,” enabling individuals to make more informed giving decisions. The site is free and available to the public, and we encourage you to use it as a resource!
Conduct your own research
GiveRichmond delivers the transparency donors need to make the kinds of decisions that turn a simple act of giving into a wise investment. Search charities by name, location, or search by your personal areas of interest.

Give back in multiple ways
GiveRichmond allows you to give directly through the website by making a secure credit card donation. If you are interested in giving your time, many nonprofits have included volunteer opportunities within the needs statement of their portrait. You can also visit HandsOn Greater Richmond for an extensive list of volunteer opportunities. Lastly, you may choose to “give the gift of charity” by participating in our pilot giving card program. Make a donation and receive a giving card, pass the giving card on to a friend or loved one and give them an opportunity to support a local nonprofit of their choice!
The Community Foundation Serving Richmond & Central Virginia (TCF) is dedicated to making the region a healthy and vibrant place by working with donors and strengthening nonprofits. Founded in 1968, TCF provides stewardship for permanent endowments that enhance the lives of area citizens. The Foundation has grown substantially since, which reflects both the vision of its leaders and the extraordinary philanthropic spirit of the people of Richmond and Central Virginia. Today, TCF is the largest of Virginia’s 27 community foundations, with assets over $900 million.
Our goal is to create a stronger and more vibrant region, now and for generations to come. We do this through by working with donors to build endowment, partnering with nonprofits to address needs through grantmaking, and providing leadership on important community issues.
What are Community Foundations?
Community foundations are tax-exempt public charities serving thousands of people who share a common interest—improving the quality of life in their area. Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations create permanent charitable funds that help their region meet the challenges of changing times. The foundation invests and administers these funds.
All community foundations are overseen by a volunteer board of leading citizens and run by professionals with expertise in identifying their communities’ needs. In the United States, community foundations serve tens of thousands of donors, administer $31 billion in charitable funds, and address the core concerns of more than 700 communities and regions.
